Because each year we send the Common Reading Experience book to first-year students, we knew many copies were floating around the university! Both the Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning and the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) programs approached us about collecting the books and putting them to better use then collecting dust on a shelf!
Debbie Taylor (WISE) worked with local area high schools to collect interest forms from teachers that had a use for Common Read books.
Sara Saylor (Ginsberg Center) also requested books to be used in Allen Elementary School fifth grade classrooms for the Readers & Best program.
Through the recycling program, we were able to provide both WISE and the Ginsberg Center with more than enough books for their interested parties.
