Common Reading books will be chosen by a committee comprised of faculty, staff, and students. When suggesting a Common Reading book, please keep in mind the following evaluation criteria:
- Can the book be used to connect engineering practice and profession to broader intellectual themes?
- Is it lively and engaging reading that appeals to young adults (including literary quality and length)?
- Will it creates the feeling of a community of scholars, particularly among incoming engineering students?
- Can it be used to emphasize the importance of engineers developing competencies beyond the technical?
